The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will conduct a statewide Drug Take-Back on October 24, 2026. You may register to conduct a one-day drug take-back event and/or to turn over drugs collected in your permanent drop box for disposal.
All disposal boxes requested during registration will be provided by the DEA. Please request enough boxes to supply you through next fall. No additional boxes will be available until the fall event.
You should expect to receive your boxes and liners no later than October 9, 2026. Contact Vicki Wright at the DEA for more information about disposal boxes and liners.

Wisconsin Ranks Number ONE in the Nation During Fall Drug Take Back Collection
The Wisconsin Department of Justice announced that Wisconsin ranked number one throughout the country for the most prescription medications collected during the spring of 2026 Drug Take Back. Wisconsin collected 57,054 lbs. of unwanted medications this fall.
“Wisconsin’s continued success with Drug Take Back is really extraordinary,” said Attorney General Josh Kaul. “Thank you to the partners around the state whose efforts have helped make this such an outstanding program in Wisconsin.”
“This is the tenth time in a row that Wisconsin has led the nation in Drug Take Back,” said Attorney General Josh Kaul. “Thank you to those whose collaborative efforts have helped lead to this remarkable success and to the folks across Wisconsin who have safely disposed of medications.”
Wisconsin has collected a total of 1,480,024 lbs. of unwanted medications since Drug Take Back began in 2010 under the leadership of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Wisconsin ranks third in the nation for the most medications collected since inception, falling only behind Texas with 1,598,159 lbs. and California with 1,530,511 lbs. collected. Nationwide, since inception, 21,034,225 lbs. of unwanted medications have been collected during Drug Take Back events.
Law Enforcement agencies must register to safely dispose of all collected medications.

September 25, 2026 - to secure deliver of boxes for collection. No late registrations will be accepted.
