Planning Effective Drills – Virtual Presentation 8-20-2026

Course Description: School Safety Consultant, Patrick Baldwin and Crisis Response and Recovery Specialist, Cheryl Johnson will provide a virtual presentation addressing best practices in scheduling, planning and implementing trauma sensitive drills in schools.

Participants will learn about school violence drill requirements in Wisconsin Statute § 118.07 and how to implement drills safely and effectively within their individual school environments, preparing their communities without causing fear. A link to join will be emailed the day before the event.

 

Presenters: Cheryl Johnson is the Crisis Response and Recovery Specialist with OSS. Prior to her current role, she worked in 4K-12 public education as a school social worker for 19 years. Cheryl is a certified trainer for Youth Mental Health First Aid and NASP PREPaRE 2, as well as a National Threat Evaluation and Reporting Office Master Trainer. Patrick Baldwin is a school safety consultant with OSS. He is well versed on the requirements of Wisconsin SS 118.07 and school safety best practices. He is also a certified trainer for the "I Love U Guys" Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM). He is retired from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department where he served as the Director of Crime Analysis and the Deputy Director of the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center.
